Chipmunks and Beer?

Got Food?

Still enjoying my stay at Greens Peak, but will be leaving in a few days. Due to the fact that Arizona Ranger stopped by to notify me of the 2 week stay policy. In my 4 years of being nomadic I have only ran into a true Ranger once.  Figured someone would be thru I am camped right below the station, thats my bad but those cell towers were just so tempting. Looks like ill be in search of a more incognito locale.

Besides waking up to fresh pine scented air at 9400ft, the only excitement out here has been this lil woodland forest critter. He/She stops by daily, and has obviously been eating campers leftovers for sometime. Heres a few more pics........

Free Camping Greens Peak AZ

Greens Peak located east of Show Low on the 260 off of FR 117 (Click Here For Map) There is a ton of dispersed camping in the area for rigs both big, and small.

As you can see above its not the prettiest of sites, but after 11 days with painfully slow internet I decided to camp as close to the towers as possible. Elevation of  camp is around 9450' which is about as high as you can get in AZ, in a vehicle.

Weathers been a cool Mid 70's during the day to mid 40's at night. Winds been gusting its blown smoke in twice now, but there has been no fire alerts, or warning yet, so hopefully they have it under control. Heres more pictures of the area....

Los Burros Camping More Pics

Already left Los Burros Campground, but figured Id post a few more pics. Slow internet forced me to leave, even with a 3g amplifier it was spotty at best. Managed to make it 11 days before I threw in the towel, spotty internet means my connection to the outside world was almost non-existent. Very frightening! :)

The above picture is of Chippy who was named by my Sister in-Law. Although he looks cute he turned out to be quite the pain in the arse. He managed to steal god only knows how much dog food, even with the van locked up he managed to crawl in through cracked windows, and eventually just come in whether I was in there or not. Heres a few more pics.......

Los Burros Campground Arizona

Left the property and headed into Show Low for a few days to stock up on supplies, and take care of some business. Stayed at Scotts Reservoir for 2 days, where I got to meet Jo, Fred, Lucy, and Kim fellow blog readers, and writers. Nice meeting you all..

My next destination would be Los Burros Campground, which I was told about last year by a fellow van-dweller, so figured it was time to check it out, and it is now my new home for the next 2 weeks.

Its located 8 miles north of McNary AZ on the old Vernon Hwy up at 7900ft. (Here is a link for directions) Some websites recommend no travel trailer over 22ft, so do your due diligence before visiting. (Update a 30ft Travel Trailer, with a fullsize pick up pulled in with no problems)  The Campground has about 12 sites all have picnic tables, and fire rings. There is also plenty of dispersed camping in the area.

Internet, and phone service did not exist until I turned on the cell phone amplifier, it went from no service to two bars. Weather calls for the mid to upper 70's, so Candy is very pleased. Heres a few more pics......

Still Squatting

Been 6 weeks now that I have been squatting on my soon to be property, the good news is that the owner has given me written consent to stay on the land until the title transfer is complete. Squatting here as been a little difficult its like getting a new toy, and not being able to take it out of the box. Guess it leaves more time to make solid plans.

The weather has been windy for quite a few weeks now, but guess thats the norm for springtime in the mountains. Temps the last few days have been in the low to mid 80's, and 50's at night excellent sleeping weather. Candy doesn't agree, and thinks it time to move further up the mountain. Which may just happen any day soon:) Heres a few pictures of hikes taken around the property...
