As you can see above its not the prettiest of sites, but after 11 days with painfully slow internet I decided to camp as close to the towers as possible. Elevation of camp is around 9450' which is about as high as you can get in AZ, in a vehicle.
Weathers been a cool Mid 70's during the day to mid 40's at night. Winds been gusting its blown smoke in twice now, but there has been no fire alerts, or warning yet, so hopefully they have it under control. Heres more pictures of the area....
Camp
Greens Peak. Fire Tower on the far right hope the been enjoying my antics :)
Turtle in the distance.
Forest is extremely dense.
50 to 60 degree morning make for one Happy Husky! Thanks for visiting. Good Day!
I don't see any toilets in your pictures. None there? You probably have one of those fancy-scmancy rigs with a bucket place.
ReplyDeleteNope no outhouses. Got me a fancy thetford chemical toity.
DeleteLooks great. Candy looks very happy. I think you are OK as the fire goes or they would have made you move out. The wind down here is blowing but not to bad until a gust comes up. May not be able to get out again until after the 4th. Thanks for the great map and info. Have a great time.
ReplyDeleteCandy is very pleased with the weather, and all this dang wind. Its a great area hopefully you get some time to explore it.

DeleteDemonstrates one of the best aspects of a mobile lifestyle in the southwest: when it gets too hot or too cold, just change your elevation. Often only a few miles away.
ReplyDeleteYep AZ is one of the few states you can enjoy 70 degree year around.
DeleteI was wondering about enforcement, I am now in the Coconino and I am looking for a nice place to settle in for the summer... I was thinking Los Burros, but you shot that down due to no internet, so ya looking for any company...???
ReplyDeleteHey Steve,
DeleteEnforcement is definitely around I was already approached by a ranger once, after only 5 days. Hopefully things settle once the monsoons hit.
Last year I stayed in the forest 10 weeks, but bounced around every few weeks. Companies always good. Ill be changing locations on Sunday. If you make it to the area, or have any questions shoot me a email. Its Hoboberg@gmail.com
