Framing it up!

Walls are finally framed up, and turned out pretty good! Considering my carpentry skills were pretty much non existent, but have been rapidly improving day by day. All those little black spots is where I've wire brushed some very minor surface rust, then applied a rust converting primer. Heres a few more pics....

Been a bit leery about cutting into the steel beast not whole lot you can do to reverse the process, but finally managed to make my first incision. This particular cut will be for attic ventilation, which I think will be much needed took a reading on the steel when it was 70 degrees out, and the steel 117. Come mid June it will be a very nice feature more on that later.
Rooftop view looking west. Some pretty serious rust in two of the corners, but still very solid. Whole roof will get a nice coat of white paint to cool it down.
Looking east. Gingers out there somewhere chasing the Easter Bunny. Thanks for visiting!

Happy Easter!

  1. Wow, you are moving fast! It sure sounds like you know what you're doing! Jeanne was saying that when you cut out the portion for windows, you should save the pieces and use them as shutters on each side of the window, then when you leave, they could be slid over and secured for "storm windows."

  2. Your not wasting any time. What is the length of the container? Yes a nice coat of white rubber roofing will help with the heat. Love the view from the top terrace.
If the shrub is trimmed from the bottom will they grow taller? Just so many questions. Anyway so excited to see the progress.

  4. Is the framing connected to the container?

Looks like a fun project... though I know you may have different thoughts while doing it. :)

Looking forward to watch this all come together for you.

    1. Just a few screws at the bottom. Tried some liquid nails but didn't secure it very well. Once the attics in hoping that'll
      secure it up good.

Have different thoughts by the minute lol

  6. Your right on with the white elastomeric paint for the roof, I used it on my little cargo trailer conversion and I do notice a difference while I run around the desert southwest. Great idea with the vent for the hot air up top.
